mine is XP pro SP2. experimented a while with Vista Ultimate but regressed back to xp since a lot of my hardware drivers and peripherals are not supported by vista.

Which is why I don't always recommend it to other people. Only when I see that somebody is interested enough to 'get their hands dirty' with it, then I do my best to help.

I've been using it for several years already. Not much headaches -- but I already have a Unix background before I switched to Linux, so that may have helped somewhat.

When I find the time I'd be dual booting it with Mac OS X on my MacBook. Linux has excellent development tools, IMHO.
