A wired optical mouse.
Wireless mouse nearly cause me a good deal of trouble when the battery died in middle of watching pron then someone knock on my room and in an instant i panic and my mind just go blank without realizing i can use my keyboard so stop WMP from playing; what i did was i unplug the power cord  of my avr.  Angry

wireless optical for my laptop (i chose RF instead of BT(bluetooth) because BT has issues with wifi B/G and other bluetooth devices), corded optical for my desktop,

RF wireless mice have issues with 900MHz cordless phones but we dont have one so its fine

laser is basically optical with a lot more precision because the laser beam is still being generated by an LED (just like laser LEDs from CD/DVD/BD players)

normal optical mice uses less precise red/near infrared LEDs to track mice movement

i still keep an old school ball and stick mice as backup - ball is used to interface with the surface, the stick is used to translate the ball's movement into x,y coordinates .. its as mechanical as you can get


off topic segue portion:

as for pron ... well .. id prefer my pronographic memory! its secure, safe and no trace whatsoever (even if im dead and they autopsy my brain, they will find nothing, unlike with HDD/Flash/CD/DVD/BD .. then you're so busted) LOL
