Hi!

One issue for windows 7 is the battery. I don't know if it is a bug or win7 just completely destroys my battery. It's very surprising because I don't have this issue in Vista.

Windows 7 battery issue - "Considering Replace your battery"

I've been in win7 maybe about 2 weeks when suddenly I got this warning. I also noticed that when your unplug, the rate of power consumption is higher even if you put it in a power saver mode. So 1-1.5 hr in Vista is now equivalent to 15-30mins in Win7. Less than a year old of laptop makes me wondering how this happen suddenly.

So I did a research and found that it is coupled with Win7. According to what I've read, Microsoft is yet to provide a fix on this. Too bad!!! Even if you did replace your battery, you will have the same issue afterward. I just don't know how will the battery behaves if in case you downgrade again to Vista.

Let this serves a warning.  Sad :'(

hehehe, i have also a problem with my lappy dual booted with windows vista home premium sp2 x86 and windows 7 home premium x64...

windows vista would consume my battery power within 1 hour of internet surfing with 3g usb external modem...

windows 7 would report my battery power level to about 30minutes or so but then would readjust itself automatically to about 1 hour and 15 minutes...

so personally, i think that windows 7 power management is better than windows vista...

Do you mean ba na even bigla na lang hahaba ang oras (when unplugged). Sakin kasi namamatay talaga even if I'm in power saver mode. I'm using Acer aspire 4736 model.

@bro hunkie:
yes, the power bar would auto adjust itself (unplugged)...

a sibling has made queries regarding battery replacement for my acer 4720 (bought ~3 years ago), local reseller in new zealand suggested that it's better to buy in the philippines than order from china (taiwan?)...

local reseller would not comment on "battery power fluctuation issues" under windows vista and windows 7...

Hi mga sir,

Just to update this topic.

I read an article in yahoo couple of weeks ago about proper handling of batteries of both laptops and cellphones. I have read that when you remove the battery from the laptop in a long period of time, it can actually damage it. Then I remember na I did remove the battery for 1 week kasi may nabasa naman ako na article na complete opposite naman non. The new article states that removing battery to pro-long its lifespan is an old technique.

So in short, after using Win7 for two weeks and haven't had this issue until I remove the battery for a week, I conclude that perhaps Windows is not actually the culprit. Of course I need to further test this, pero based sa nangyari, I think yun ang katotohanan.

So guys, the lesson is not to remove the battery unless necessary. I can't find the link but I believe it's on the Yahoo Tech siya.

thanks guys!

 Angry
...well, i experienced the windows 7 battery problem:
replace your battery error even when my laptop battery was full...
---
scenario:
the laptop was fully charged and remain unused for about 2 days...

since i was scheduled to travel to cagayan de oro city today, and with the laptop in offline mode, i "recharged" it for about 10 minutes and unplugged it...

when i reached limketkai, cagayan de oro city,  i found out that i have this error: " consider replacing your battery" error...

i have yet to return home and confirm whether the laptop battery is really dead...

i will update when i can...

Good for you sir!

As for me, I still have the error. I had remove the battery for a week and since then the error won't go away. I also can't use the lalptop for long time during unplug.

I can't tell if going downgrading to Win vista will resolve the problem.

Maybe posting the type of laptop or netbook can help us resolve this problem..

So far I've installed win7 home premium (x86) in these laptops/netbooks & didn't experience this error:

Acer Aspire One D250
HP Mini 110
Cloned Sony VAIO (purchased from china)
Compaq Presario (forgot the model no.)
Dell Vostro 860
Dell Latitude 430
Dell Inspiron (forgot the model no.)
