newbie here so please excuse my ignorance,
cpu-z says my E4300 is running at 1200mhz, it should run at 1.8mhz at stock, right?

intel E4300
asus p5-mlx

yes it should! try to use other programs to verify your processor speed. For me i use Advance Windows care Pro to determine all of my system specs. you should try it, its free. And it also tones up your system.

hmmm...

as you can see....

core 2 is a power saving processor..

some times it lessen speed while idle or short tasks....

it some times lowers the speed for some time....and if your into extreme..it will maxed out all of your procesors power
